Day 4 - Château of Azay-le-Rideau and the garden of Villandry Meal in a restaurant. Among the castles of the Loire, Villandry unquestionably owes its fame to its terrace gardens, which should be seen and visited to appreciate all their charms and subtleties. Day 2 - Bayonne Visit a workshop producer of "Bayonne ham". Bayonne ham owes its reputation to the quality of the salt in which it is conserved. Visit the Basque Museum, the biggest ethnographic museum in the Basque Country. Travel on the Basque Coast in the direction of Biarritz. Night in Biarritz. |
Day 3 - Basque coast Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a fishing port on the Basque coast and now a famous resort, known for its architecture, sandy bay, the quality of the light and the cuisine. Tasting of the famous "macaron" in a workshop. Meal in a typical restaurant. Cambo les Bains, visit of the house and garden of Edmond Rostand, famous writer, best known for his play "Cyrano de Bergerac". Sare, Ainhoa, Espelette : typical villages known for there beauty and local speciality (piment, chocolate, ...). Diner and night in Saint-Jean-De-Luz. |

Day 4 - Funicular of la Rhune Ossès, meeting with a producer of "Ossau-Iraty" cheese. This cheese tastes slightly akin to cow's cheeses of similar texture such as alps cheese. Meal in a typical restaurant. In the fortified town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, there are views of the old houses with balconies overlooking the river Nive. Many of the buildings are very old, of pink and grey schist, and retain distinctive features, including inscriptions over their doors. One, a bakery, lists the price of wheat in 1789. The town has traditionally been an important point on the way of Saint-James, the pilgrimage. Diner and night in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. |
Day 5 - Lourdes Meal in a typical restaurant. Climb to the peak of Jer by funicular: panoramic view over the valley and the city of Lourdes. The peak of Jer is recognizable by its large cross illuminated at night. The group join the town of Tarbes by coach, to come back with a lot of memories. |
